The Pentagon raised the combined ceiling on seven National Security Space Launch contracts from $5.6 billion to $17 billion, Payload Space reported, citing the department’s 17 July contract notice.
The agreements’ combined limit increased by $11.4 billion. No funds were obligated when the modifications were issued, meaning the new figure is a maximum potential contract value rather than approved spending.
The modifications cover United Launch Services, Blue Origin, SpaceX, Stoke Space, Rocket Lab USA, Impulse Space and Relativity Federal. All seven companies participate in Lane 1 of NSSL Phase 3.
Actual payments will depend on future launch orders. The higher ceiling expands the maximum volume of work the Pentagon can award among the programme’s participants.
