NEC launched its Corporate AI & Workforce Division on August 1, with the department staffed exclusively by AI agents, Electronics Weekly reported.
The structure includes 17 agents with separate roles, including a department head, board members, managers and workers.
Its first assignment is to prepare company-wide analysis, simulations and early risk warnings for executive meetings.
The agents also analyse financial data, return on investment and cost trends. NEC later plans to add customer-data analysis to support sales strategies.
Digital managers can create new agents for requests from other divisions, assign work and monitor quality. Multiple agents in different roles also verify the steps taken by worker agents.
All activity is logged digitally and can be reviewed by people. Final evaluation, key decisions and governance remain with NEC employees.
