Animal identification will support accurate records and health monitoring, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture said.
The system is intended to prevent diseases that threaten people and animals. The ministry listed anthrax, rabies, brucellosis and echinococcosis.
When an infectious disease is detected, the records should help identify its source, trace animals that had contact with infected livestock and locate high-risk areas more quickly.
“Animal identification is not a system of fines, but an important step aimed at protecting human health, ensuring food safety and supporting safe livestock farming,” Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture said.
The records should also provide product traceability, including where meat and milk came from, the animal’s health status and whether it passed a veterinary inspection.
