Uzbekistan had 17,763 libraries and information centres as of 1 January 2026, data from the National Statistics Committee show.
The count includes libraries, information-resource centres at educational institutions and organisations, and information-library centres. Their collections held 89.2 million copies of books and periodicals.
Samarkand, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions had the largest numbers of facilities. The full regional breakdown is:

- Namangan region — 1,477
- Tashkent region — 1,446
- Tashkent city — 1,217
- Khorezm region — 1,100

The figures for the 14 territories add up to the national total of 17,763. The committee’s Uzbek-language page listed Karakalpakstan twice; Brief counted it once.
