Uzbekistan and China agreed to expand cooperation on combating desertification and restoring degraded land, the Uzbek National Committee on Ecology reported.
The meeting was held at the Central Asian Centre for Environmental and Climate Change Studies. Participants included presidential ecology adviser Aziz Abdukhakimov, Forestry Agency director Erkin Mukhitdinov, representatives of Inner Mongolia, scientists and international experts.
The sides discussed forest and pasture restoration, expanding forested areas, growing planting material and applying scientific and digital solutions to natural-resource management.
The Chinese delegation presented Inner Mongolia’s experience in building an ecological protection barrier and restoring degraded ecosystems.
Participants also watched “Green Silk Road: Rebirth in the Desert”, a film about China’s Three-North Shelterbelt project and the greening of arid areas.
M-Grass Ecology And Environment Group and Green University signed an agreement covering joint seed and seedling production, pasture restoration and the introduction of environmental technologies.
