Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom are considering direct flights between Tashkent and Manchester, the Dunyo news agency reported.
Uzbek Ambassador to the UK Ravshan Usmanov discussed the project with Manchester Airports Group corporate affairs director Rhys Whalley.
Manchester Airport handles more than 32 million passengers a year. Its two runways could support an increase to 70 million passengers annually.
The British side said a new route could strengthen business and tourism links while expanding Uzbekistan’s transit options.
Manchester Airports Group said it was ready to support Uzbek airlines. The parties will continue working through the organisational issues involved in launching the flights.
