An Uzbek schoolgirl has joined the international Icebreaker of Knowledge expedition to the North Pole aboard the nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy.
The seventh science and education voyage departed from Murmansk, Rosatom said.
The route takes the vessel to the North Pole and the Franz Josef Land archipelago before it returns to Murmansk.
The expedition includes school and college students from Russia and 22 other countries. They were selected from winners of science competitions, olympiads, engineering projects and nuclear-energy contests.
Participants will attend lectures, discussions, workshops and career sessions aboard the vessel. The programme covers physics, ecology, artificial intelligence and the operation of the nuclear-powered fleet.
More than 400 school students from different countries travelled to the North Pole during the project’s previous six seasons.
