Families in Uzbekistan whose homes were damaged by fire, flooding, an earthquake or another emergency may receive funds for repairs.
Support is available to families listed in the Social Register and to those whose average monthly income per person does not exceed twice the minimum consumer expenditure. With the current benchmark at 715,000 soum, the income cap is 1.43 million soum per family member.
The payment depends on the extent of the damage and may reach 150 base calculation units, or 61.8 million soum. Assistance may be provided more than once when necessary.
The damage must be documented. A certificate from a public services centre is required after a fire, while flooding, earthquakes and other natural disasters require an assessment report from a working group.
Repairs may be funded through the Infrastructure and Social Stability Fund or carried out by a district landscaping department or Mahalla servis kompaniyasi. A family may also arrange the repairs itself and receive a building-material voucher worth up to 85% of the approved aid.
To apply, a family must contact its mahalla seven-member community group. It will inspect the home, prepare the documents and assess the damage before a decision is made.
