A road patrol officer driving a Tracker vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Samarkand, the regional road safety department reported.
The crash occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on July 21 on Shabbod Street. According to the department’s preliminary account, the pedestrian, born in 1951, was crossing outside a designated area.
The pedestrian suffered injuries and died at the scene. The official statement did not disclose the victim’s name.
The patrol vehicle had been assigned to the officer driving it. The department did not state the driver’s procedural status.
The Samarkand city prosecutor’s office is conducting a pre-investigation inquiry. The final circumstances of the crash have yet to be established.
