Nine kilometres of the Karasu Canal embankment in Urtachirchik district will be improved at a cost of 32 billion soum, the Uzbek presidential administration reported.
Work began in 2025 and is divided into two stages. The first 1.6-kilometre section between the Tinchlik and Karasu mahallas has already been completed.
The finished section includes walking paths, a fountain, workout areas, a water park and a tunnel under a bridge. Decorative trees, benches and food and service facilities have also been added.
The second stage will run through the Karasu, Rovotak and Fayzobod mahallas. Entertainment, recreation and gastronomy streets are planned there.
The number of retail and service facilities will rise to six. Authorities expect them to create 150 jobs.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the completed section on 22 July. The announcement did not give a completion date for the second stage.
