A man was detained in Bukhara region’s Karakul district while receiving 26 million Uzbek soum after promising admission to the fourth year of a medical programme, the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
According to the department, he gained another person’s trust and offered to prepare forged documents claiming the applicant had completed the first three years at a university in Kazakhstan.
The suspect allegedly said contacts in senior positions could arrange fourth-year admission to Bukhara Innovative University of Education and Medicine.
He was detained while receiving the money. The department said the 26 million soum was seized as evidence.
A criminal case was opened under provisions covering attempted fraud and incitement to give a bribe. The investigation is continuing.
