The Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan said the country’s immigration service deported an Uzbek citizen who remained in Japan after his student visa expired.
According to the diplomatic mission, he entered Japan to study, continued staying after the visa expired and was subsequently detained.
The embassy stressed that a student visa is intended for education, not employment. Unlawful stay or work may result in detention, police arrest, placement in an immigration centre and deportation.
Japanese authorities also share information about immigration violators with the Uzbek side. As a result, deported citizens may face additional measures after returning home, the embassy warned.
