In the first half of 2026, UZS 26.849 billion was recovered or ordered to be recovered for citizens with the Ombudsman’s assistance, the institution’s press service reported.
The Ombudsman received 10,468 appeals over six months. Economic rights accounted for 28.4%, social rights for 21.8%, personal rights for 21.7%, and conditions for people with restricted freedom of movement for 12%.
The appeals and monitoring visits led to 70 response measures sent to state bodies, organisations and courts: 27 lawsuits, 18 opinions, 17 submissions, seven demands and one warning. Criminal cases were opened in 12 instances.
Of the total, UZS 25.937 billion concerned wages and labour relations. More than UZS 304.6 million was recovered in debt and compensation cases, UZS 435.9 million in child support, while UZS 171.2 million in unjustified debts was written off.
Fourteen responsible officials faced disciplinary or administrative action after complaints. Eight women affected by violence received protection orders, and criminal cases were opened against five people.
The Ombudsman and public monitoring groups made 521 visits to closed institutions. They issued 23 response measures; more than UZS 472.6 million was allocated for repairs at Penal Colony No. 13 and temporary detention facilities in Tashkent region.
People held in closed institutions, their relatives and lawyers submitted 1,227 appeals. Prosecutorial reviews overturned five premature refusals to open criminal cases, while 12 families of convicted people received economic and social assistance.
