Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Donald Trump to make an official visit to Uzbekistan, the presidential press service reported.
The phone call took place on 7 August. At the start of the conversation, Mirziyoyev congratulated the US president on the country’s 250th anniversary of independence.
According to the press service, Trump noted the high level of US–Uzbek relations and the trusted dialogue between the two leaders. They discussed implementing earlier agreements and further developing the strategic partnership.
The leaders gave particular attention to a three-year economic cooperation programme. They also discussed the first meeting of the US–Uzbek Business and Investment Council, regional ties and visa-free entry for US citizens.
Joint projects cover civil aviation, automotive manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, energy, metallurgy, artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The presidents discussed global security, peaceful solutions to international and regional conflicts, and the schedule of future bilateral and multilateral events. No date was announced for a possible Trump visit.
