Uzbekistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a protocol setting out the next stages of a project to develop free economic zones, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade reported.
Before the signing, Minister Laziz Kudratov met a JICA mission led by Sakai Mamoru, head of the agency’s Uzbekistan office.
The sides discussed the technical cooperation project, attracting foreign direct investment and developing the country’s industry.
They also reviewed the results of JICA’s diagnostic mission and consultations with relevant ministries, agencies and free economic zone directorates.
The protocol defines the next steps in implementing the project. The ministry expects it to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan and improve the country’s investment appeal.
