Uzbekistan’s budget tax revenue has risen 27% since the start of the year to UZS 130 trillion. Additional collections reached UZS 12 trillion, equal to 40% of the annual target.
At a meeting reviewing the first half of the year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for stronger engagement between regional authorities and local companies. He also ordered proposals to reduce fines and mandatory payments for businesses.
Botir Ahmedov, first deputy governor of Bukhara Region for economy and finance, was dismissed over unsatisfactory results. In the region, 162 companies with turnover above UZS 100 million had reported losses for three consecutive years and paid no profit tax.
Another 1,500 VAT payers in Bukhara Region had filed only tax deductions. Since 1 July, tax specialists have taken responsibility for monitoring 498 large companies, while local officials were instructed to work directly with businesses.
