Tashkent’s gross regional product reached 226 trillion Uzbek soum in the first half of 2026, up 13.3%, the city administration’s press service said.
The growth forecast had been set at 11.2%. The capital recorded the highest gross regional product growth rate among Uzbekistan’s regions.
Industrial output rose 8% to 109.6 trillion soum, meeting the official growth forecast for the period.
The city absorbed $4.3 billion in foreign direct investment and loans over six months, 1.5 times the amount recorded a year earlier. A total of 249 investment projects worth $657.5 million were launched, creating 9,800 jobs.
Exports rose 43% to $1.5469 billion. Under the localisation programme, 77 projects produced goods worth 4.9 trillion soum, bringing performance to 148% of the target.
Exports generated by localisation projects totalled a further $121.6 million. The city administration did not specify the methodology used to calculate the figures.
