New wholesale tariffs for electricity generation, transmission and distribution, as well as gas transport, have been in force in Uzbekistan since 1 August.
The rates apply only to settlements between energy-sector companies. Retail prices for households and businesses have not changed.
Electricity generation rose by 8% instead of the previously announced 9%, transmission by 18% instead of 30%, and distribution by 4% instead of 10%. The gas distribution tariff increased by 28% rather than the announced 23%.
The changes are part of a transition to the international regulated asset base, or RAB, system. The next indexation is planned for the first half of 2027, while the commission will review energy companies’ claimed costs individually.
Power plant tariffs vary: UZS 522 per kWh for Uzbekhydroenergo, UZS 579 for the Talimarjan thermal power plant, UZS 957 for the Takhiatash plant and UZS 1,126 for the Tashkent thermal power plant.
Transmission through the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan costs UZS 98 per kWh. Regional distribution rates range from UZS 171 in Kashkadarya Region to UZS 410 in Karakalpakstan.
In the gas sector, 1,000 cubic metres supplied by UzGasTrade costs UZS 1.39 million including VAT for Hududgaztaminot and UZS 1.6 million for Uztransgaz’s needs. Uztransgaz transport costs UZS 195,000 per 1,000 cubic metres, while Hududgaztaminot services cost UZS 240,000.
