Uzbekistan’s Senate approved amendments changing how tax authorities may suspend transactions on business bank accounts.
A tax authority will be able to suspend transactions without going to court only with the taxpayer’s consent. If a business objects, an economic court must decide the issue.
The tax authority will have three days after receiving a company’s objection to file a claim. It must attach evidence of the alleged violations to the application.
The amendments also provide for an expedited lifting of the restriction once the violation has been remedied.
The amendments concern the Tax Code and the Economic Procedural Code. The new process is expected to reduce costs for businesses and ease the burden on courts.
