Shavkat Mirziyoyev has launched construction of the Future Technologies Centre and nine additional projects with a combined indicative value of about $965 million, the Uzbek presidential press service said. The total comprises about $500 million for the centre and $465 million for the other projects.
The state-run Cyber University was established under a presidential resolution dated 20 January 2025 and operates under the Ministry of Digital Technologies. About 1,000 students now study across eight bachelor’s and two master’s programmes; the academic building has 1,585 places and the dormitory 805.
The Future Technologies Centre will be built on 36 hectares next to the university in Nurafshan. It is intended to combine education, research, testing and production in a single innovation ecosystem.
Plans include six laboratories covering cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and cryptography. The project also provides for an AI data centre, an engineering cluster, production of secure computers and data-transmission equipment, and a testing ground for drones and robotics.
With support from the Asian Development Bank, a platform is expected to commercialise domestic technologies and promote products in international markets. Five megawatts of power capacity will be built to provide the complex with a stable electricity supply.

The innovation ecosystem is expected to create more than 5,000 highly skilled jobs. Construction of modern IT park buildings has also begun in Nurafshan and Chirchiq, while the Tashkent region’s digital-services exports are projected to reach $50 million in 2026.
Nine further projects worth $465 million will be implemented with Russian, Chinese and German companies. Authorities expect the new facilities to create another 5,000 jobs once operational.
