An online petition seeking a replay of the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina had passed 80,000 verified signatures by 23 July, its page shows.
The final was played in New Jersey on 19 July and ended in a 1-0 Spain victory after extra time. Ferran Torres scored the only goal in the 106th minute, according to the FIFA match record.
The petition’s author accuses referee Slavko Vinčić of bias and bribery but provides no verifiable evidence for those claims. The allegations remain the author’s position rather than established facts.
The petition is non-binding. FIFA has not announced any process to review the result or replay the final.
Gisela Sanchez launched the petition on 20 July. It had collected more than 61,500 signatures by 22 July, EFE reported, before the count continued to rise.
