Google has built wireless iPhone data transfer into Android 17 without requiring a separate app, the company announced. The feature is beginning to roll out to selected Pixel phones.
During setup, users can transfer photos, videos, contacts, messages and calendars. The new flow also supports a Google Account, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and an eSIM.
The system is also available on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8. Google plans to bring it to more Android devices later but has not named specific models or dates.
The transfer starts during the initial setup of an Android phone. Google has not said the feature supports every data type or fully replaces making a backup before switching devices.
