Uzbekistan’s Emergencies Ministry said rescuers brought eight people to safety after they became lost in the mountains of Bostanlyk district, Tashkent region.
Seven hikers lost their way on Mount Polvonak in the community of the same name. Another person was unable to return independently from mountainous terrain in the Oq Tosh community.
The regional emergency department launched search-and-rescue operations after receiving the two reports. All eight people were found and escorted to safety by rescuers.
No one was injured, according to the ministry. Medical treatment was not required after the operations.
The ministry urged travellers to check their route and the weather in advance and to follow safety rules when entering mountainous areas.
