Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Davron Vakhabov proposed allocating at least 50,000 hectares in Kazakhstan for a pilot livestock project.
The initiative could allow Uzbek businesses to buy and fatten cattle in Kazakhstan, establish a feed base and then supply the animals to Uzbekistan.
Animals would be raised to more than 400 kilograms for export. The Kazakh side supported further discussion of the project.
A separate system of record-keeping, veterinary controls and export quotas is planned for participating farms.
Kazakhstan supplied Uzbekistan with 32,000 tonnes of beef and 34,000 tonnes of lamb in 2025. The products were worth about $300 million in total.
Uzbekistan accounts for more than 90% of Kazakhstan’s meat exports. The pilot area has only been proposed so far, while the control and quota mechanism still needs to be developed.
