President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to reform the drinking water supply system. They plan to separate water production from its supply to consumers.Details publishedin a message from the Press Service of the President of Uzbekistan.
A separate enterprise will be created for the main water supply. It will sell water to regional organizations at a single wholesale tariff. Retail tariffs for water supply and sewerage will be calculated by a new interdepartmental commission.
From April 1, 2027, they want to establish a single tariff for budgetary organizations throughout the country. The authorities explain the changes by saying that current prices vary by region and do not always cover the cost of services.
By 2030, drinking water consumption could increase by 230 million cubic meters from the current 941 million. Network losses should be reduced from 35 to 25 percent.
To control networks, they will create digital maps and implement SCADA, GIS, telemetry and a general billing system. In cities and regional centers, they plan to equip subscribers with meters with remote data transmission, and transfer payments completely online.
